Addy Sea, a historic oceanfront inn located in picturesque Bethany Beach, Delaware, is proud to present a brand new, reoccurring five-course wine pairing dinner event, starting on November 10, 2020, for in-house guests only. Each distinctive dinner, which will typically land on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 6 p.m., will feature a new, creative menu, complete with many classic seaside delights that encapsulate Sussex County’s culinary scene. Most importantly, for only $20 more, Chef de Cuisine Rosario and his culinary team will pair each course with a unique varietal, bottled at a regional vineyard. Kate Galloway, the Assistant Manager at Addy Sea, will be joining forces with Rosario to curate these bi-weekly in-house dinners.
“Chef Rosario and I will be creating a new menu each week,” said Galloway. “We want to incorporate local vendors’ ingredients, as well as partner with local vineyards for our wine pairing. Our goal is to create these partnerships within the area because there are so many wonderful farms and vineyards out there.”
The Concept: Coastal Delaware Collaboration
The concept behind these upcoming wine pairing dinner events is rather simplistic: Addy Sea’s management and culinary team aim to collaborate with the region’s finest farmsteads, vineyards, and distinguished vendors. Work together. Dine together. Grow together. Due to COVID-19, many small, family-owned businesses are rethinking their trade. Leaning on each other for support is a must for so many of us. Thus, the concept of reoccurring five-course wine pairing dinners was born. Depending on the event, the locally-grown vino will be provided by Salted Vines, Nassau Valley Vineyards, or Windmill Creek (among many others).
And this is just the beginning. Galloway and Company are also finalizing details on their very first whiskey pairing dinner with craft spirits from the likes of Beach Time Distilling, Seacrets Distilling Company, and Feebs Distilling Co (all of which are unconfirmed partners at this point).
The Ever-Changing Menu
Rosario’s meticulously-crafted five-course dinner menu is self-described as a culinary voyage. The very first wine pairing dinner event will feature a succulent, four-ounce filet mignon, crab-stuffed salmon, and strawberry goat cheese salad. Guests can choose to pair each course with a hand-selected wine. The meal starts with a three-meat charcuterie and cheese board and ends with a secret dessert from our Pastry Chef Sarah Garner. This farm-to-table-esque experience will only feature the freshest ingredients from local farms and vendors, curated by Chef Rosario.
Reminder: Each menu will boast a beautifully dissimilar mix of entrees, small bites, desserts, and wines. So, in theory, couples could stay every Tuesday and Saturday nights and be met with a whole new culinary journey each time. Collaboration is one of Galloway’s primary goals. Still, the Addy Sea team is also looking forward to providing prospective guests with a wholly different dining experience this winter—something other than take-out.
“There are so many guests that bring their take-out back to the inn because they love to take advantage of its ambiance,” said Galloway. “So, we now can give them the option to stay and dine with us and experience how amazing and creative Chef Rosario is, with some other fun experiences, such as the wine pairings and live music during dinner.”
